After posting this morning I hoped all day I was over reacting, but I wasn't. I drove home after picking my sweet Jake up from school with him crying in the back seat saying he doesn't want to go to school tomorrow and that he doesn't like his school here...
I am SOOOOO sorry That makes me so sad for u and him!!! Let him have a sick day of fun with you!!! wish I could help you!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I mentioned this before and perhaps it was premature but I think something needs to be done. You met other parents from the class right? Start documenting behavior and ask them to do the same. Go to the principal with a group and documentation to back you. A collective voice, with documentation, cannot be ignored! Children are wonderful (especially your Jake) and for them to dislike school (because of attitude) at such a young and crucial age is unacceptable!
ReplyDeleteThis made me cry. I don't understand why people teach children if they don't have a joy and abundance of love for them. And it isn't the teacher who needs to keep having chances for degrading situations, she's supposed to teach, not learn! I really think you should request a conversation with her and the principle- even if she disagrees, this is how Jake feels, and even if he misunderstood or is wrong about what happened, his feelings are very valid.
ReplyDeleteWe love you, Carrie. You and Jake are some of the sweetest, kindest people we know. I hope you will take the others advice and let the teacher know (SOON!) that you were upset (emails are GREAT). Maybe if you don't feel up to documenting the teacher's actions, you can find another parent you can talk to that will?
ReplyDeleteI wonder... if Jake was crying at the end of school, did something else happen that day, too?
