My baby is eight...I can hardly believe that eight years have gone by so quickly and today my sweet boy gets baptized! I just had to reminisce a little and was looking at some old pictures. These are just random pictures from 2004. Seems like just yesterday! I will post pictures of the big day later. But for now here are some favorites of Jake at age 3 and 4...
Hey Carrie!
ReplyDeleteI finally signed up...aren't you proud of me! Now I will list it as one of my favorites so I can check it everyday to see if you blogged...sorry I was a little slow on that one (I thought it worked like ours.) I love these pictures of Jake. I can't believe how the time has flown by...
He sure is a cutie.
I am soooooo grateful that Ben and I were able to be there with you guys for his baptism. It was incredibly special and the Spirit was so strong. That is one valiant boy you have there.

Congrats Jake! We're so proud of you for making the choice to be baptized! I can't believe you have an 8 year old Carrie! Hope ya'll are doing well!
ReplyDeleteHey SERIOUSLY how did he get 8, I still think of him at 3 and 4 since that is how I saw him last. CRAZY!!
ReplyDeleteI love to idea of taking pictures of stuff they don't want to throw away.
All I will say is selling a house SUCKS and I wish you speedy success!!!
ALLLLL THIS FROM THE ONE WHO USED TO SAY, and I quote, "Der Dad, take a breath and wait a minute." And, that was just for a traffic light!
ReplyDeleteI have a clue as to all the stuff that you give time out of your life for. You are really something! I mean really something special! And, I love you.
Try this: Take a breath and take 10 minutes for yourself (each day). Calendar it. Think of it as a tithe to yourself. God only asks for 10% of your increase from what He gave you. For all your giving, it's ok to ask for 10% too. Start with 10 minutes. If you're awake 14 hours a day, then work towards giving yourself 1.4 hours, even if it's only in 10 minute intervals, 8 times a day. You have your agency. You can do anything you want with it, even service. But, you choose. Don't let someone else choose for you. Even God has to say "no" once in while, even when He really wishes He didn't have to. He takes a breath - like you counseled me to do - and let's people work things out for themselves. Now, He probably doesn't need the time for himself. He's been doing what He does for a very long time. He knows we have to practice saying "no" sometimes, as long as it's for the right reasons. It's harder than saying yes, or ok. It takes practice to know the right reasons. If you don't practice "no", your body get's tired from all the "ya, sure(s)", or "ok(s)", when we can't think of a good excuse to say "no". Sometimes, when you feel like you should have a good excuse to say "no" to someone, or something, what you really need is the courage to say what they need to hear, "sorry, I can't".
The practice is not to get good at saying "no", it's to get good at knowing when to say "no". Like sacrament, calendar time for self renewal.
That you do all that you do amazes me. I love who you are.
